Royal FLORIA Putrajaya will bring the concept of a family holiday to a new dimension beyond imagination when Magical Gardens themed components kicks off the holiday season that is from 27th May to 4th June 2016 at Anjung FLORIA, Precinct 4, Putrajaya.
By applying the latest technology from Europe, the Magical Gardens will feature an amazing experience through the Mystical Forest, Chrysanthemum Garden, Mermaid’s World and Candy Courtyard. These innovative technologies will excite all five senses - sight, sound, taste, smell, touch and enliven emotions.
With the theme “Magical World of FLORIA”, the largest festival of flowers and gardens in the region is featuring the Chrysanthemum as the theme flower. Set in a garden scenery is especially designed to be savoured by the viewing public. Among the new components that are expected to entice more visitors and foreign tourists this year is the exhibition “The Magic of Bonsai & Suiseki “Musical Garden”, and Terrarium exhibition “Tropical Magic in Glass”.
This Flower and Garden Festival in its 9th edition is organized by Perbadanan Putrajaya (PPj) with the support of the Federal Territories Ministry, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture and Tourism Malaysia and is managed by PPj’s wholly owned subsidiary, Putrajaya Floria Sdn Bhd (PFSB).
International participants who make their appearance every year, is one of the factors that attracts the attention of the public to the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya. This year’s floral designers and landscape architects hailing from Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Germany, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Spain, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Europe will showcase their ingenuity through their unique designs and compositions.
They will exhibit indoor and outdoor show gardens while giving visitors an insight into their creativity and expertise. In addition to showcasing the design of indoor and outdoor show gardens, visitors are given the opportunity to enjoy the creativeness and skill of local and international landscape designers through the design of outdoor feature gardens by government agencies, corporate bodies, private sector, associations, universities and secondary and primary schools.
While officiating the Press Conference ceremony of Royal FLORIA Putrajaya 2016, the President of Putrajaya Corporation, Hon. Datuk Seri Haji Hashim bin Haji Ismail said, “Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is not only a tourism icon for Putrajaya, but also one that stimulates economic activity and generate business opportunities and networking for local floriculture and horticulture entrepreneurs”.
“Recognizing the capacity of FLORIA as a competent business platform, Royal FLORIA International Dialogue was organised for the first time. Besides being a platform to exchange ideas and exposure to the best horticultural practices, dialogue participants was able to gain knowledge from international specialists in the field of horticulture and floriculture”.
“FLORIA also provides healthy and stimulating activities that can enrich every member of a family. To this end, we introduced a number of components in Magical Gardens such as the Mystical Forest, Mermaid World and Candy Courtyard that can be therapeutic, a positive trigger for the public who are looking for some freshness from their daily hustle and bustle”.
To facilitate visitors, whom are expected to come in droves, entrance ticket counters will open two hours before FLORIA opens its gates, which began May 25th, 2016 from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm. Thus, visitors can also buy tickets on-line or on-line from March 1st, 2016 by visiting the website: www.floriaputrajaya.com.my. FOF (Friends of FLORIA) members will be given exclusive preview of the Royal FLORIA a day before its open to the general public, for free.
As with each edition of the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya, awards are up for grabs. Among them is the Royal FLORIA Putrajaya International Cup for the best design amongst the international participants selected as winner in the Floral Pavilion, Royal FLORIA Putrajaya Garden Cup for the overall winner of the outdoor garden exhibition and Royal FLORIA International Orchid Competition award.
Other attractions at the Royal Putrajaya FLORIA 2016 Chrysanthemum Garden, Royal Garden, Designers Garden, Tea Party Garden, Cat Pavilion, Floral Pavilion and Horticulture Market plus Plants Bazaar that will retail all the garden wares and plants such as ornamental plants, herbs plants, fruit saplings, potted flowering plants, garden furniture, garden equipment, biotechnology products and landscaping services.
Thus, more than 300 activities will be held daily as the nine-day Royal Putrajaya FLORIA progresses. These activities will include flower arrangement demonstrations, gardening workshops, entertainment shows, photography competitions, watercolour contests, as well as other arts and crafts happenings.
FLORIA Flavours is expected to be a hit again this time as the hub which offers authentic cuisine from various states in Malaysia under one roof. Enjoy your favourite dishes from states such as Melaka, Johor, Perak, Penang and Terengganu, among others, in a more convenient and comfortable location this year.
The component that had attracted the attention of many visitors in FLORIA annually is the FLORIA Arts & Crafts. Likely to be an attraction again this year for visitors who want to enjoy fine arts, crafts and participate in demonstrations and to bring home unique handicraft products of quality. At this point, the exhibitors and retailers of more than 90 craftsmen will offer arts and craft products inspired by vegetation, landscape and nature.
As in previous years, we are gathering young talents from universities, secondary schools and primary schools. Encouraging students to participate in the Garden Design Competition with designing and building their own garden under the supervision of their respective teachers and lecturers. A total of 20 primary schools, 20 high schools and 20 universities will participate in the School and University Garden Competition.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya is a festival of flowers and garden design exhibition organised by PPj since 2007. Due to the overwhelming response from the visitors it’s become an annual event since 2009. The festival showcases the commercial products from the horticulture and landscape industry, show gardens, garden designing demonstrations and flower shows from local and international participants, where all the attractions will be presented in a garden setting.
Royal FLORIA Putrajaya will be open to public tours from May 27th to June 4th, 2016 from 9:00 am - 10:30 pm (Monday to Thursday) and from 9:00 am to 12:00 midnight (Friday to Sunday).
